history and territory

Verona PGI Radicchio originates in a historically suited area, where tradition and quality give life to certified production.
Grown exclusively within the area recognised by the PGI product specification, it is harvested at the ideal time to preserve its crunchiness, freshness and taste. The certification highlights one of the jewels of Veneto horticulture, an authentic expression of the local area and the Italian supply chain.

PGI identity

It is the cold of winter that reveals its most authentic character.
The low temperatures and soils of the Verona area give Radicchio di Verona its characteristic deep red colour, leaf crispness and delicate, slightly bitter taste that makes it instantly recognisable. For the late variety, the traditional forcing and blanching phase naturally completes the production process, enhancing the texture, colour and quality of the head.
